BrainMail (“BrainMail,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a mobile application that allows users to save personal thoughts, reflections, reminders, and journal-style entries and receive optional reminder text messages containing that content at later times.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you when using BrainMail and related services (the “Service”).
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate the Service.
- Phone Number: Your phone number is used for account authentication, account recovery, and optional SMS reminder delivery.
- User Content: Entries, reminders, reflections, and other content you save within BrainMail are stored securely and used solely to provide the Service to you.
- Community Content: If you choose to post content publicly within the Community section, that content may be visible to other BrainMail users.
- Technical Information: We may collect limited technical information necessary for app functionality and security, such as device type, operating system version, app version, and error diagnostics.
- Subscription Information: Subscription and entitlement status is processed through Apple and RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your full payment card information.
BrainMail does not use third-party advertising trackers, sell personal information, or perform behavioral advertising profiling.
2. How We Use Information
We use collected information only to provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Authenticate and secure user accounts
- Store and deliver reminder messages and app content
- Provide optional SMS reminder functionality
- Maintain Community features and moderation tools
- Respond to support requests
- Prevent abuse, fraud, spam, or misuse of the Service
- Comply with legal obligations
3. SMS Messaging
By enabling SMS reminders within the app, you consent to receive text messages from BrainMail related to reminders and account functionality.
Message frequency varies depending on your settings and usage. Message and data rates may apply.
You may opt out of SMS reminders at any time by replying STOP. Reply HELP for assistance.
We do not store SMS conversation histories or message reply logs.
4. Community Features
BrainMail may include optional public community features that allow users to share content publicly with other users.
Content you voluntarily post to public Community areas may be visible to other users of the Service.
Users may report content or block other users. We reserve the right to remove content or restrict accounts that violate our guidelines, applicable law, or the safety of the platform.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell personal information.
We share information only with trusted service providers necessary to operate the Service:
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, secure cloud storage, database services, and server-side functionality.
- Twilio: SMS reminder delivery.
- RevenueCat: Subscription and entitlement management.
- Apple App Store: Billing and in-app purchase processing.
These providers process information solely for service-related purposes and under applicable confidentiality and security obligations.
6. Data Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect user information.
Data is encrypted in transit and stored using industry-standard infrastructure and security practices provided through Firebase and related providers.
Although no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure.
7. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service and comply with legal obligations.
If you delete your account, we will permanently remove or anonymize associated personal data within a reasonable period, including:
- Your account authentication information
- Your saved entries and reminders
- Your Community posts and associated content
Your phone number will also be unsubscribed from SMS reminder delivery.
8. Your Rights & Choices
- You may unsubscribe from SMS reminders at any time by replying STOP.
- You may request account deletion or support assistance by contacting: brainmailhelp@gmail.com
- Subscriptions may be managed or canceled through your Apple App Store account settings.
9. Children’s Privacy
BrainMail is intended for users aged 13 years and older.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that such information has been collected, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
